Work and Life of Antonin and Noémi Raymond

 Join us for an informal reception and presentation to learn more about Noémi and Antonin Raymond and their pivotal importance in bringing George Nakashima and his family to Bucks County.  

In addition to practicing architecture, the Raymonds designed furniture, lighting, textiles, ceramics, flatware, and ironwork. In 1938, after working in Japan for 15 years, the Raymonds returned to the United States and set up a summer studio/home in Bucks County called “the New Hope Experiment," an architectural atelier that taught practical design solutions. Apprentices had hands-on experience with various building trades and crafts. Their responsibilities also included working the land and raising livestock. Their remarkable property and preserved interiors are an undiscovered treasure, offering a fascinating story about creative commitment. more...
